Luck was brought to us on August 7, 2007. He was severely emaciated, full of worms, severely dehydrated, fungus on back, needed teeth floated, and hooves trimmed. He was fed every 3 hours day and night, de-wormed, blood-work done by our veterinarian, hooves trimmed, later when he was a little stronger we were able to have his teeth floated in hopes that that would help him gain weight. Blood work showed that his organs were starting to shut down, but there was still hope that he would be able to be saved. In January we had more blood work drawn as he was still not gaining weight as he should've at this point, the results were still the same. His organs were shutting down and his muscles in his hind left leg were starting to deteriorate because of this. Because of the severity of his condition and the cost of a maybe the blood-transfusions and removing his muscle from his hind leg may or may not work it was recommended per our veterinarian to have him euthanized and put out of his pain, so in March of 2008 he went to heaven where he could eat all the grass he could eat, drink all the water he could drink, and play with the other horses in the wide open fields and have no pain!
Luck touched all of our lives by the determination that he sustained and the will-power he had! He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him and had the pleasure of getting to know him!
